If you receive a suspicious communication claiming to be from Empower Blue Credit Union:
• Do not provide account numbers, passwords, PINs, security codes, or other personal information.
• Hang up immediately if the call seems suspicious.
• Contact Empower Blue Credit Union directly using our official phone number to verify the request and report the activity.
Be aware of common scam tactics:
• If someone tells you that Empower Blue Credit Union is "under investigation," "being shut down," or that your money is at risk because of the credit union, this is a scam.
• Scammers often create a false sense of urgency and pressure victims to withdraw funds from their trusted financial institution and send the money elsewhere for "safekeeping." This is fraud.
• The Social Security Administration will not call unexpectedly to threaten you, suspend your Social Security number, demand immediate payment, or request personal financial information.
• Fraudsters may become aggressive, rude, or threatening if you question them. Some will even threaten you or your loved ones to create fear and force you into making quick decisions.
• Scammers can spoof phone numbers and make calls appear legitimate, even if the caller ID looks familiar.
If anyone pressures you to act immediately, move money, purchase gift cards, send wire transfers, buy cryptocurrency, or keep the conversation secret, stop communicating with them and contact us directly.
Any suspicious calls, threats, or attempts to obtain your financial information should be reported to Empower Blue Credit Union immediately. The sooner we are aware of a scam, the better we can help protect you and other members.
